Wow, where has the year gone?

We are beginning Term 4. Lots of exciting things coming up. Guy Fawkes is not far away so we will be having discussions around fireworks safety. There will be a home learning sheet about safety around fireworks as well so please discuss this with your child. We have a Zoo trip in Week 4 which will be very exciting. More information will follow shortly with the permission slip. We have our School Athletics Day in Week 5 which is always a fun event. More info to follow closer to the time! Hoping you are all well. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me via email or in person - my email incase you do not have it is:

Firemen Visit!

Room 11 had two awesome firemen visit today. We learnt all about fire safety, how to escape from a fire in your house, the parts of a fire engine and how important it is not to play with lighters and matches. Please ensure that you talk with your child about a safe meeting place. If you live in a two-story house and your child's room is on the 2nd floor, if there is a fire and they can't go out their bedroom door they must try calling out to you guys (their parents) otherwise they will have to crawl out the window and risk breaking a bone if they fall to the ground. I have had a discussion with the class and we called my brother who is a fireman and he explained to the class a broken bone is better than not surviving the fire. Have a lovely, safe holiday. Here is a link to the NZ Fire Service so you and your child can go and draw your escape plan in the event of a fire. See you all in Term 4. Firewise Mini Unit!

This week we will be doing some learning around staying Firewise. Today we talked about what we know about fire. We made posters in groups demonstrating different types of fire and wrote messages about what fire means to us. On Thursday this week it will be very exciting to have a fireman come to visit our class. WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
