Making a Worm Farm!!!

Today, Mr Healey our newest Student Teacher, planned and carried out an awesome lesson making mini-worm farms in small groups. We had Ethan's Nana Yvette and Vince's Mum Gina helping out - thank you both so much for your help we couldn't have done it without you both. We are going to be linking our practical lesson today of making our worm farms to procedural writing tomorrow where we write the process we went through to create worm farms. We had so much fun. Science - Water Cycle - Cause and Effect!

Once again, your amazing Student Teacher Mr N led a fantastic lesson exploring The Water Cycle. He discussed with the children what Cause & Effect is and showed them a short video explaining what the words Cause & Effect mean. After this he conducted a play using props showing the sun, clouds, rain and the ocean which demonstrated the four stages of The Water Cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection). From here, he did an experiment using hot water in a large bowl, a small cup as the collection cup, glad wrap over the bowl and then ice cubes on top of the glad wrap. We watched as condensation formed underneath the gladwrap and some of the water was collected in the small cup. This was a fantastic lesson Mr N and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves! You are a star!!!

Cool food colouring experiment!

We have been talking about primary and secondary colours. We poured red, yellow and blue food colouring into every 2nd glass of water and put tissue paper from each glass into the next glass. We watched over a couple of hours as the colour travelled up the tissue paper into the next glass and made the new colour. It was fun to watch the process unfold :)

Science Term 2

Our wonderful student teacher Mr N took a lesson looking at Floating & Sinking and then Seeing Sound. We had fun predicting which things might sink and which things would float. We then saw an amazing experiment looking at how you can see sound. Enjoy the pictures below and discuss with your child what they learnt from each experiment :)
